The “roof” of the Peloponnese… tough as only a solid rock can be
We start in Kardamili by boarding our vehicle heading for the ancient forest of Vasiliki and then on to reach Aghios Dimitrios after 1.20 hour’s drive. At an altitude of 1600 m. this is our starting point for the hike to Pyramid Peak.
The route initially traverses a forest of Greek fir (Abies cephalonica) and black pine (Pinus nigra), then continues through treeless high altitude landscape with impressive rock formations before it reaches the summit after a 3 hour climb.
The stunning panoramic vistas will be the reward of your efforts. After a 30 minute rest, we head back to Aghios Dimitrios for the return drive to Kardamili.
The ascent to the summit of Taygetos is not just a climb. It is an inner journey and a pilgrimage to a mountain so steeped in history and legend.
